The First Community Bank Great Chili Cook-Off will be Friday, October 11, 2019 at the Hale Springs Inn Courtyard in Rogersville, Tenn. The event will help kick-off Heritage Days weekend. Entry fee for each team is $20 with each team limited to four people. Cooking will be begin at 3 p.m., and tasting will begin at 5 p.m. Sample bowls and spoons will be sold for $5.00 each with proceeds benefiting the Rogersville Heritage Association.
Teams should prepare approximately two gallons of chili. Meats are to be USDA certified only. Wild game is not acceptable. Home canned tomatoes and beans may be used. Nothing is to be prepared prior to the cook off. The team recipe and all ingredients are to be cooked within the allotted time.
Teams should be on location by 2:30 p.m. Official cook time (lit burners) begin promptly at 3:00 p.m. Pre-work, such as cutting vegetables, chopping, opening cans, etc. is acceptable after 2:30 p.m.

Judge’s Choice – 1st, 2nd, 3rd place
People’s Choice – Best Chili, Most Creative Tent, Good Golly Miss Molly That’s Hot (spicy), Most Unique Flavor and Best Chili Toppings
Parking is limited behind the Inn and much of the lot will be reserved for Inn guests. If there are no parking spots available, it is acceptable to use the lot for unloading purposes. There should be plenty of parking available at the First Baptist Church lot across from the Post Office. Main Street will be blocked to traffic, but can be used for temporary unloading at the start of the cook off, but will not be accessible after the cook off has started.
