We have been made aware of a fraudulent text message being received by some of our customers.
Scammers are using this as a way to try and obtain your personal information, including your internet banking credentials. Usually, the alert text is asking if you made a specific purchase. Then, the alert asks for you to reply either Yes or No to prevent a potentially fraudulent charge. Finally, the scammer will call you. The scammers are even spoofing the bank’s phone number, so it appears that the follow-up call is coming from us.
DO NOT click any link or provide any banking or personal information.
Remember, the bank will never call and ask you for your PIN, password, banking credentials, or other personal security information.
Some fraudulent texts are easy to spot because they contain spelling or grammar errors. However, others can look very real. If you have questions about your account or debit card, please call us at 423-272-5800, and a member of our team will assist you.
